Burj Dubai delayed

The Burj Dubai that is currently under construction in Dubai and is already the world’s tallest building (it will eventually stand 818m) has been held up.

In March, Emaar Properties, the manager of the world’s tallest tower block, had announced a four month delay but still said the tower would be completed before the en of 2008. However, they now say that work is behind schedule and will be delayed by another eight to nine months. You can imagine investors are probably not very happy.

The luxury finishes that were decided on in 2004, when the tower was initially conceptualized, is now being replaced by upgraded finishes. The design of the apartments has also been enhanced to make them more aesthetically attractive and functionally superior.

Burj Dubai is part of the $20 billion Burj Dubai development (4.1$ billion for the skyscraper), which includes a shopping mall, hotels and residential buildings. The real height of the building will not be revealed before the building is completed. This is to keep the intrigue, but also so no other country announces a taller building once they know the height. However, there will be fierce competition with the following buildings that are being planned:
