Bahrain’s Financial Harbour
Bahrain’s Financial Harbour (BFH) is currently one of the Middle East’s most exciting property developments. This project is mainly designed for the international finance sector.
The Harbour district covers 380,000 square metres in Bahrain’s waterfront. It will offer high quality office spaces, luxurious residential accommodations, hotels, leisure and entertainment opportunities.
BFH will be the confluence of the financial services sector in Bahrain, by aggregating and concentrating the currently locationally dispersed financial services sector into a dynamic purposely designed financial district.
BFH is directed by a vision and a mission (not very original, in my point of view):
OUR VISION
To create a technologically astute and sophisticated financially focused business community of reputable local, regional and international companies in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
OUR MISSION
To reinforce Bahrain’s unsurpassed position as the leading international financial centre of the Middle East by evolving a highly focused, committed and advanced financial environment for its occupants to thrive and prosper.
Is this just another Dubai (see post Is Bahrain imitating Dubai?) or will there be something that really makes it special. And by special, I don’t mean who has to tallest skyscraper or the biggest artificial island; I mean will there be something in Bahrain that will make people want to buy their office space there (and of course live there) rather than in any other large financial city? Masdar City is a good example of what I call special.
UPDATE: It seems tha Bahrain is indeed trying to be different: check Bahrain’s WTC has intergrated wind turbines.
